ISRO successfully injected 20 satellites into Polar Sun-Synchronous orbits. It ejected each of the individual satellites itself.
This is a proof that India’s famous frugal space agency is headed for a larger slice of the lucrative commercial space market. This feat comes days after ISRO launched the Reusable Launch Vehicle-Technology Demonstrator(RLV-TD) which went up to a height of 65 km and successfully glided down to a pre-determined landing spot over Bay of Bengal.
This is not the only achievement India has scripted its history in. It became the first ever to successfully get a spacecraft to the Martian orbit on its maiden attempt in 2013 which is popularly coined as MOM(i.e., Mars Orbiters Mission).
The Indian Space Research Organisation successfully placed 20 satellites at 9:26 A.M. which is PSLV’s( Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle) 35th consecutive successful mission. After a flight of 16 minutes and 30 seconds, the satellites achieved a Polar-Sun Synchronous Orbit of 508 km inclined at an angle of 97.5 degrees to the equator which is very close to the intended orbit. And in the succeeding 10 minutes, all 20 satellites successfully separated from the PSLV 4th stage in a predetermined sequence.
Of the 20 satellites launched, one was the CARTOSAT-2 series which will be useful in Cartographic applications, Land Information System and Geographical Information System.
This achievement by the Indian Space Research Organisation is exemplary.
Out of the other 19 satellites, SATHYABAMASAT and SWAYAM built in collaboration with Sathyabama University, Chennai and College of Engineering, Pune respectively is one of the best paradigms of Make-In-India Campaign launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2014.
This is one of the many evidences to prove that ISRO continues to break new barriers in the history of Indian Space Technology.
